Views from Kanta Da's Thek
On 15th August four years ago my college journey started. We, the hostellers, spent a good 2.5 years together and then got separated due to covid. I gathered a lot of memories, friends, experience, knowledge, and freedom! Those days were full of ups and downs but were worth enjoying. Those gossips, those enjoyments, those sleepless nights to those exams... Wish we could have paused the time. I don't want to grow anymore, take me back to those golden days!
This project is a light study of different timings of a day from inside a small shop near my college. The four images show four consecutive segments of a day of my four years at Haldia. the brushy texture and old diary look has been given to get a nostalgic vibe.

A scene from 1st year. Uniforms were must for the juniors!
With this illustration I wanted to show an afternoon scene with a clear sky. The sun is at the west which is in the right side of the image and thus yellowish light reflects on the right side of the bamboos in the shop while blue ambient light reflects from left side.

In this illustration I wanted to show an evening scene with a bit cloudy sky. The light is coming from inside the shop as well as from inside the college gate.
Scene from 3rd year. A trippy night out!
In this I wanted a night scene with a clear star-lit sky. The shop has been closed with no dominant light present in the scene. The only light are the diffused ambient light. Very little light is present.
Scene from 4th year. We were leaving the college and it was raining and so does our eyes!
In this illustration I wanted to show a overcast morning scene with heavy raining. All the light sources are diffused so there is only ambient occulsion present. Thus there is very little shadow and highlight present in the scene.
This picture is a place behind our hostel. The place was lush green with morning birds and evening mosquitos. Here I found myself away from the crowd enjoying solitude!
